Snow Shoes
made by the Ojibwe tribe
in Minnesota, circa 1920s 12" wide, 48" long made of wood and
animal tendons. There is a small break on one shoe that has been
temporarily mended. Snow shoes were invented by the Ojibwe as a means to
walk across snow without sinking in. When the Europeans arrived,
they had never before seen snowshoes but they soon began using them
also.
